Lady Bears sweep South Laurel

Harlan County swept a junior varsity/freshman doubleheader from visiting South Laurel on Monday.

Sophomore guard Morgan Blakley scored 12 points, including 10 in the first quarter, as HCHS (2-0) won 40-15 in the junior varsity game. Emily Long and Dixie Ewing added seven and six points, respectively.

Freshman guard Jacey Lewis scored 14 points, including six of six at the line in the fourth quarter, as Harlan County (1-0) won 30-26 in the freshman game.

Bree Howard led South in both games, scoring 12 in junior varsity action and 14 in the freshman game.
