After a special-called meeting of the Evarts City Council on Monday where the second reading of the city’s tax ordinance was approved, a plaque was presented to the city in appreciation for their help and support to the Harlan County Ridge Runners (HCRR) ATV Club.

Making the presentation was HCRR board member Henry Shackleford who said this was one way of showing the local businesses and organizations throughout the county how much the ridge runners appreciate their help over the years.

“We’ve actually presented plaques to several places in Harlan and Bell counties,” said Shackleford. “The ridge runners are involved in a lot of community service, including the annual Ramp Festival, toys for special needs children at Christmas, meet and greet feedings at the north Evarts RV park several times a year and so much more.”

Evarts Mayor Eddie Manning said the ridge runners club has “always done a lot to help the citizens of Clover Fork.”

“It’s always nice to have an organization you can work with that helps us as much as we help them,” said Manning. “Any time the city has a function, a block party they are always there to volunteer their help. Our Trail Town commission is made up of some ridge runner club members also. We appreciate them more than they will ever know.”
