The Harlan County Public Schools Family Resource & Youth Services Centers collaborated to sponsor a “Baby Fest” for new and expectant parents at the Harlan Depot on Oct. 18.
Those attending the event received information and gifts from the Harlan County Health Department, Harlan ARH Hospital, MCHC, Harlan County Extension Service, KCEOC Head Start, Harlan County Community Action Agency, Cloverfork Clinic Dentistry, Well Care and Club 180.
Cecilia Adams, community educator, gave out free books.
Club 180 and Cindy Ware, nurse practitioner, talked to the new parents about shaken baby/fetal alcohol syndrome and drug addicted babies.
Parents received free toothbrushes for their children from the Cloverfork Clinic.
Lunch was provided and many door prizes were given out. Afterward, parents received free clothing for their children.
