The Harlan County Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala, presented by Appalachian Wireless, was held Friday at the Harlan Center. Those receiving awards are, from left, front row: Paul Pratt, Lifetime Achievement Award; David Howard of Howard Engineering, recognition for 25 years in service; Robert Gipe, President’s Award; Darlene Long of Kentucky Utilities, recognition for 100 years in service; Marie (Rie) Whitfield, Harlan Countian of the Year; Cathy Hill of Food City, Business of the Year; Terry Delaney of Mountain View Realty, recognition of 25 years in service; Gary Fee of O’Reilly Auto Parts, Excellence in Customer Service; back row: A. Roger Fannin, emcee, closed the program by saying that after he had listened to all the recipients achievements, he felt as though he needed to do more for the community.
