A Harlan man was arrested Friday afternoon on theft charges stemming from alleged occurrences in November and December.
Joseph Vaughn, 34, was arrested by Loyall Police Chief Mike Lunsford and charged with theft by unlawful taking.
According to the arrest warrant, Darryl Robinson claims Vaughn took money from the register of L.P. Energy totaling $1,439.39. Robinson also requested that Vaughn stay off of L.P. Energy property.
According to Lunsford, Vaughn is accused of taking money from stores owned by L.P. Energy in Loyall and Browning Acres.
Vaughn was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $500 but under $10,000. He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond.
In other police news:
* Billy Trivett, 53, of Oblog, Ill., was arrested at approximately 3:35 a.m. Friday by the Harlan City Police Department.
According to a warrant obtained by Officer George Young, on Dec. 12 Glessie Gilbert was riding in a truck driven by Trivett. Gilbert attempted to exit the truck, at which time Trivett put the accelerator to the floor and caused Gilbert to be injured. Trivett left the scene and was later located in Evarts by the Evarts Police Department.
Trivett was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident and flagrant nonsupport.
Trivett was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 full cash bond and an additional $1,000 full cash bond;
* Tamara Arvin, 25, of Loyall, was arrested by Lunsford on a charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance.
According to the complaint, Arvin sold one Suboxone strip to a cooperating witness for $25.
Arvin was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 full cash bond.
