Digital signs at Don’s Super Saver and the Harlan County Extension Depot in Harlan document the frigid temperatures that chilled and created havoc for many across the region. The sign at Don’s recorded a reading of 7 below zero at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday, while the sign at the Extension Depot had a reading of 3 below zero at 8:23 a.m. The temperatures at the North Pole were actually warmer than those recorded across Kentucky and Tennessee late Monday and Tuesday.
