If you are looking for a unique way to spend Valentine’s Day with your sweetheart, Pine Mountain State Resort Park will be offering Valentine Voyageurs hikes throughout the weekend.
Hikes will be led by Program Services Supervisor Beth Byrnes.
Byrnes will be discussing the different aspects of nature in the park, as well as talking about the geological and physical history of the area.
On Valentine’s Day, hikers will be led on a strenuous trail to Honeymoon Falls at 10 a.m. or along the abandoned L & N railroad grade for the easy-level Clear Creek Hollow Trail, beginning at 1:30 pm.
Then on Feb. 15, there will be a 6:30 a.m. moderate-level hike to see the sunrise at Chained Rock or a strenuous hike to Hemlock Garden at 10 a.m.
“I wanted to do something to get people out and in the open and get some activity going. I want to bring families, not just couples, out to the park,” said Byrnes.
The hikes are free, but registration is needed at the front desk on the day of the hike.
More details can be found on the calendar page online at parks.ky.gov.
The restaurant at Pine Mountain is closed for repairs. However, reservations are available for the cottages or lodge for the weekend.
