The Rev. Ron and Mrs. Mitzi Eads Oplinger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 15. Now residing in Partridge, the couple is originally from Pathfork. Mitzi is the daughter of the late Rev. George and Virginia Daniels Eads. Ron is the son of the late Lomas and Shirley Hensley Oplinger.
Rev. Oplinger has served as pastor of Lewis Creek Pentecostal Church in Partridge for the past 33 years. Prior to pastoring at Lewis Creek, he pastored Dry Fork Holiness Church in Leslie County for four years. He also worked 39 1/2 years as a conductor for CSX and L&N Railroad, retiring in 2004.
Mitzi retired from her job as a registered nurse at the Harlan County Health Department in 2005. Mitzi worked for 41 years in both the nursing and business professions. Her nursing career not only included her work at the Harlan County Health Department but also various positions in hospitals and health agencies in Bell and Harlan counties after graduating from nursing school in 1979.
The Oplingers have two daughters: Beth (Michael) Sergent and Rhona (Richie) Creech, as well as three granddaughters, Savannah and Sophia Sergent and Callie Creech, all of Partridge.
