Flipping Santa: A Harlan County tradition
Nola Sizemore|Daily Enterprise
For more than 50 years, the “Flipping Santa” has been a Harlan County tradition. Originally owned by Wade McCorkle, it hung in the Star Furniture Store on the corner of Cumberland Avenue and Central Street in Harlan for many years. Flipping Santa now has a permanent home at the Harlan Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. Purchased by Circuit Court Clerk Paul Williams’ son-in-law Danny Smallwood two years ago, Williams said children still come just to see the “Flipping Santa.”
