Katie Clark, a violin student from the Studio of Piano Fine Arts, has been accepted into the music program at Morehead State University.
Her audition selection was Concerto No. 5, first movement, by Seitz.
In addition to being accepted into the music program at MSU, Clark was also awarded the much sought after Music Scholarship. Clark plans to major in music, with an emphasis in music education. She will audition for, and hopes to participate in the MSU orchestra as part of her studies.
She is a student of Clara Atkins-Pope. She has also been enrolled in the Apprenticed Teacher Program offered by the Studio of Piano Fine Arts, for the past three years.
Clark resides in Leslie County, and is the daughter of Danny and Kristen Clark, of Stinnett.
Stephen Jones has been accepted into the music program at the University of Louisville. Stephen will audition for the Cardinal Singers, the premiere choral group of the university, and hopes to become a vibrant contributor to this group, as well as to the U of L music program, with his strong, blossoming bass voice.
Jones is a member of the Harlan Boys Choir, and a private student of Ryland Pope, who teaches at the Studio of Piano Fine Arts, in Harlan.
He auditioned with two selections: “Lasciate Mi Morire” by Monteverdi, and “When a Felon’s not Engaged in his Employment,” from the Pirates of Penzance, by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Jones graduated from Harlan High School in May. He is the son of Rodney and Linda Jones, of Harlan.
