Two bicycles were given as door prizes and students received backpacks and school supplies for the new school year.
On Aug. 5 an Open House event was held at the school for kindergarten registration and to allow students, parents and teachers to meet each other. Refreshments were served and the students had their faces painted (Maria Lewis and Marissa Rutherford), Bull’s Eye the Clown (Caleb Terry) made balloon shapes for the students and the students participated in various other activities.
Additionally, the Cumberland Elementary School FRYSC began the new school year by teaching school bus safety to K-4 students.
Jenny Farmer, FRYSC coordinator, visited the classrooms and talked to the children, showed a bus safety video and gave out coloring pages to each one.
FRYSC conducts various health and safety classes throughout the year.
