Rosspoint Elementary School fifth-graders learned about boat and water safety during the annual 4-H Extension Safety Days held on Thursday at the National Guard Armory in Harlan. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Officer Steve Combs, right forefront, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger Brent Sewell conducted the demonstration.


The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office and the Harlan County Board of Education hosted a DUI goggles demonstration to Harlan Middle School fifth grade students. Teaching the students “not to drink and drive” Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Derrick Akal is pictured showing a student how hard it is to pick up an object when drunk or impaired.
