Twenty senior Musettes and their families were honored at a dinner held at Harlan Baptist Church recently.

“The Minnie Stories of the 2014 Musette Seniors” was the theme. Each table was decorated with various Minnie Mouse dolls and candy.

Each senior received several gifts, including a framed collage, made by Vicki Blakley. Sophomore and junior parents along with new officers were in charge of serving the meal. A DVD of the 2014 spring break trip to Orlando was shown while everyone enjoyed their meal.

The program included “Remember Whens” read by Samantha Spurlock and Laura Pace. Underclassmen presented a skit and it was followed by a DVD presentation of the seniors by Vicki Blakley.

Each senior was presented a yellow silk rose, an engraved silver charm and a graduation card signed by the choir from their Musette little sister and also one from Marilyn Schraeder and Clara Atkins-Pope.

Schraeder was assisted by next year’s president Samantha Spurlock, vice-president Laura Pace and treasurer Emily Cassim.

She gave each senior a framed picture of themselves, and each girl signed the mat for their parents.

Schraeder also presented a framed picture of the seniors at their spring concert with Charlotte Nolan to the out-going officers. They are Laurie Hollins, president, Wendy Mavinidis, secretary, and Beth Caldwell, treasurer.

She presented candles which said “Home is where your story begins” to Musette moms who had a senior daughter and to dads who were in Boys Choir. Those included Laurie and Greg Hollins, Barbra and Dane Ledford, Wendy and Perry Mavinidis, Tammy Robinson and Tip McNeil.

Candles were presented to the following parents who had two or three daughters in Musettes: Gwen Arwood, Twana Gooden, Cathy Hill and Jimmie Pace.

The seniors sang “Wherever I Go,” f0llowed by the underclassmen singing “Never Alone.”

The evening came to a close when the girls formed their traditional candlelit circle singing “Candle on the Water.”
