Martins Fork Lake Resource Manager Dave Robinson, right, and Richard Sullivan of the Harlan County Recreation Department, load a tree onto a trailer for transporting to Martins Fork Lake. The discarded Christmas trees are used at the lake for fish attractors. These dense, woody structures provide sufficient habitat for fish to hide and reproduce, according to Robinson. Despite inclement weather, 28 trees were obtained for the project. Trees may be dropped off at the trailer parked at Tractor Supply in Harlan through Jan. 15. All decorations must be removed from the trees. For more information, or if you would like to volunteer at the lake, contact Sue Bush or Robinson at 606-573-7655
