Hoping to raise funds for muscular dystrophy and Brady’s Muscle Makers, Star Auction, located at Baxter across from the Coal Monument, will host a benefit auction Saturday beginning at 3 p.m.

Brad Lawson, one of the organizers for the event, said all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Louisville Chapter for the Muscular Dystrophy Association/Brady’s Muscle Makers, which in turn will help his 12-year-old son, Brady Lawson, who has been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He said Brady was a former student at Harlan Elementary School, but is now being home schooled by his mother, Laminda Ditty.

“There will be items such as a Fossil watch donated by Jewelcraft, Origami Owl necklace, Dollywood, Lexington Legends, Knoxville Smokies Baseball tickets, Country Night Theatre tickets, an autographed picture of the TV series “Pawn Stars” cast, over $300 worth of pool accessories donated by J&J Pools, two tickets from Ripley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg, new rods and reels, guns, meal certificates from local restaurants, free haircuts, candles and so much more,” said Lawson.

The auctioneer for the event will be Shawn Madon, of Baxter. Lawson said the auction house seats over 200 and he hopes every seat will be filled for the event.

“We invite everyone to come out and support this worthy cause,” said Lawson. “Through dollars donated to research, hopefully, one day they will find a cure for muscular dystrophy. We’ll have free cake for everyone to enjoy and also hot dogs and drinks that can be purchased with all proceeds being donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association/Brady’s Muscle Makers. Come out, have a great time and pick up some great tickets or items of interest while helping those in need.”

Lawson said fire departments from across the county will also be on the bridge at Walmart and Don’s Super Saver from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday taking donations for Muscular Dystrophy Association/Brady’s Muscle Makers.
