Students, teachers and staff at Harlan County High School enjoyed a day of fun at Coal Miners Memorial Stadium on Friday to mark the end of the school year.

The field day, with a theme of Pursuing Excellence, was sponsored by the school’s First Priority Club, which is under the direction of sponsors Glenn Wills and Eddie Creech and campus coach the Rev. Bo Lee.

Four $500 scholarships were presented, one each sponsored by Don’s Super Saver, Jim Roddy and the Shirt Shack, plus another presented in honor of Robert and Betty Lee.

“We want to make this an annual event,” said Lee.

The Evarts Church of God, Loyall Methodist Church and Harvest Worship Center also helped sponsor the event, as well as Sanders Bounce House. The United States Marines and Kentucky National Guard also assisted.

The students were divided into four teams, one for each class, and participated in a variety of activities.
