Activities were abundant during the Poke Sallet Festival held over the weekend in downtown Harlan. Among the many things to commemorate the 59th annual event were a wealth of musical entertainment, exhibitions of arts and crafts items and a broad spectrum of food to satisfy all. Saturday, the Run for the Hills 5K race was held as the large field charged along Central Street shortly after the 8 a.m. start. The race was won by Steven Engle, right, number 49, and finishing second was Mason Miller, number 92. Following a concert by Jimmy Rose on Friday, rising country music star Chris Janson rocked the house Saturday night during a free concert that drew several thousand people.
