A Harlan man recently arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property is facing new charges for allegedly committing thefts in the Woodland Hills area.

Travis Napier, 19, was arrested on Thursday by Harlan City Police Cpl. Jeff Owens.

A previous report stated Napier was arrested for allegedly possessing a stolen iPhone.

A complaint states police were questioning Napier and two other individuals at a residence in Holly Point when a phone rang inside the residence. The phone was a white iPhone that matched the description of a phone reported stolen by a Woodland Hills resident.

While in jail, Napier was additionally served with an arrest warrant obtained by Officer Derrick Noe on Monday adding theft and other charges against him.

“He advised the jail staff he wanted to talk to us,” said Noe. “We took his statement, at which time he admitted to being in the vehicle and having juveniles with him. He advised us he was the one that took the phone.”

Noe said a warrant was obtained based on Napier’s statement.

According to the warrant, Napier entered four different vehicles in the Woodland Hills area.

“We do have video of them at one of the residences,” said Noe.

The warrant states Napier took a Louis Vuitton purse valued at $995, an iPhone 4 valued at $600, four credit cards and two blank checks from a Subaru. The warrant additionally charges Napier with taking multiple flashlights and loose change from three other vehicles.

The warrant also states Napier had two juveniles with him when he took the items. The two juveniles have also been charged.

According to Noe, the Woodland Hills thefts are possibly connected to a recent rash of thefts in and around Harlan.

Napier was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $500, three counts of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor and theft or receipt of a stolen credit/debit card.

Napier was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
