Ashley Overbay didn’t allow a hit as Harlan swept a doubleheader from visiting Leslie County in middle school softball action Friday, 16-0 in the first game and 17-6 in the nightcap.


Overbay went the distance for a perfect game in the opener, a three-inning game, striking out seven and walking none.


Katelyn Burkhart led Harlan at the plate with three singles. Tori Hill and Overbay each added a triple and single. Payton Bennett, Ann Marie Bianchi and Mackenzie King contributed two singles each. Jayda Young and Brooklyn Collins added one single each.


Overbay and Bianchi each had three triples and a single in the second game. King added a triple and two singles. Young had a triple and single. Collins singled twice. Burkhart and Hill added one single each.


Bennett gave up six runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings. Overbay struck out 11 and walked none in 3 2/3 innings in relief to earn the win.


Kaitlyn Burkhart, Lexie Webb and Kelsey Harney had singles for Leslie County.


Harlan closes its regular season schedule Saturday at Middlesboro, taking on Barbourville and Middlesboro.
