Kids looking to sign up to play ball with Harlan Little League or just have a good time for the day need to put Saturday on their calendar and head down to Huff Park.
James Earl Hensley, Harlan Little League player agent, said an entire day of activities is planned for Saturday at Huff Park.
“We are having what we are going to call a Fun Day and signups for all of Harlan County,” said Hensley. “During the Fun Day our itinerary is we’re going to have free inflatables from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all the kids.”
Hensley said any children who want to come are welcome to take part in the activities whether or not they wish to sign up to play ball.
“Starting at noon, we’re going to be handing out free food,” said Hensley. “We’ll be handing out hot dogs, chips and a drink.”
Hensley said Keith Madison, who played for the Cincinnati Reds and coached at the University of Kentucky, will be speaking at 1 p.m.
Hensley said following Madison, Pastor Bo Lee will be giving a motivational sports speech.
Hensley said the day will include testimony and ministry.
“We’re publicly inviting all churches of any faith and all youth groups of any faith to come down and listen,” said Hensley.
Hensley said once the speakers are finished, they will continue handing out free meals and the inflatables will be up and running until 5 p.m.
Hensley said any eligible players who wish to sign up to play ball would be welcome to do so during the day’s activities.
“Regardless of where you’re from, even if you’re from Cumberland,” said Hensley. “I know they’ve got their own little league baseball, but we’ve got a league they don’t have which is Wee Ball and that’s 3 to 4 years old.”
According to Hensley, the event may mark the last opportunity to sign up for Harlan Little League this year.
Hensley said the event is planned to be a faith-based event for all denominations.
