The fourth Super Sunday event was held Feb. 23 in the Edsel Godbey Appalachian Center at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College at Cumberland.

The event is a statewide initiative and is in collaboration with the Kentucky Community & Technical College System.

The event is designed to promote educational opportunities and to boost the college-going rate of students of color. The event featured a church service involving six congregations from the Tri-City area including remarks by the pastors and musical performances by individuals and choirs.

Super Sunday also included a college fair and dinner.

The event drew over 200 people and is a statewide initiative involving all 16 colleges within the Kentucky Community and Technical College System’s domain.

The Rev. Ronnie Hampton was the first recipient of the Carolyn Sundy President’s Diversity Achievement Award.
