Harlan County 4-H Safety Day will be held Thursday at the Harlan National Guard Armory.
The morning session will be from 8:50-11 a.m. for the following schools: James A. Cawood, Cawood, Harlan Middle, Rosspoint and Green Hills. The afternoon session will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:35 p.m. for the following schools: Cumberland, Evarts, Black Mountain and Wallins.
An Air Evac emergency helicopter will fly in at 11-11:30 am. for students to see.
The presenters will be Harlan City Police, gun safety; Harlan EMS and Harlan Rescue Squad; Division of Fish and Wildlife and Corps of Engineers, boating safety; Kentucky Farm Bureau, bicycle safety; Harlan City Fire Department, fire safety; Harlan County Sheriff’s Department and Harlan County of Board of Education Safety Officer, DUI goggles; National Weather Service, weather safety; and Fish and Wildlife, ATV safety.
Each session will last approximately 15 minutes before the class moves to the next station. The weather is supposed to be sunny and near 60, but the students should bring a jacket and an umbrella in case of rain or cold temperatures during the morning session.
