Harlan’s own Ashe Parker is filming her next movie in Connecticut.

The daughter of Bobbie Parker, of Lexington, and the late Gary Parker, of Harlan, Parker said she also has a “second dad” in her life, whom she is “very thankful for.” He is Greg Miles, of Eolia.

The actress is the younger sister of Shawn and Travis, both of Lexington.

“My most prized possession is my daughter, Bella Grace,” said Parker. “She is the light of my life and my inspiration.”

Parker is a graduate of Harlan High School and received her bachelor of business degree from Lincoln Memorial University. After college, she began working as a caseworker for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. She then proceeded to work as a human resource assistant and benefits coordinator for Southern Coal Corporation.

“I started pursuing acting four years ago after the loss of my father,” said Parker. “While still living in Harlan, I have managed to build an impressive acting resume, which includes having parts on several television shows, commercials, music videos and feature films. I have been cast in a new movie and will travel back to Connecticut later this year to begin filming.”

Parker has been recognized by the Kentucky State Senate and commissioned a Kentucky Colonel. Commissions for Kentucky Colonels are given by the Governor and the Secretary of State to individuals in recognition of noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to a community, state or the nation.

“You have stepped outside of the box for our region by pursuing acting. I would like to commend you for being a positive role model for the community,” said Kentucky Sen. Brandon Smith in a legislative citation.

“You’re a natural. I am very proud of you, and you should be proud of yourself too,” said Director Leigh Scott, after working with Parker on a recent film “Piranha Sharks,” which will be released this summer.

“It was great to work with you. You truly did a wonderful job,” said producer Amber Russ, after working with Parker on a recent episode of “Killer Couples,” which will air on Oxygen Network in the next few months.

Parker is represented by The Studio Model and Talent Agency.
