The Harlan County Bass Anglers recently kicked off their 2014 season. The first tournament of the year was held on March 1 at Norris Lake in Tennessee sponsored by Capital Finance.


The team of Jamie Brackett and Keith Brewer took first place in the event with a five fish limit weighing 13.85 pounds.


Jamie Brackett and Keith Brewer also won Big Smallmouth of the tournament with 4 pounds, sponsored by Merle Norman


The team of Dale Beard and Adam Branson won Big Largemouth of the tournament with 4 pounds, sponsored by Speedy Cash.


The Harlan County Bass Anglers launched their second season tournament on March 15 at Douglas Lake in Tennessee, sponsored by Creech Chevrolet.


The team of Joe Baltimore and Archie Irvin won first place in the event with a five fish limit weighing 19.05 pounds.


The team of Joe Baltimore and Archie Irvin also won both big fish awards. Since no smallmouth were weighed in, therefore it becomes second largemouth. Joe Baltimore and Archie Irvin weighed two largemouth both weighing it at 5.20 pounds a piece. The big fish awards were sponsored by The Bank of Harlan.


The Harlan County Bass Anglers launched their third season tournament on March 29 at Cherokee Lake, sponsored by Jewelcraft.


The team of Lowell Caudill and Marty Cornett took first place in the event with a five fish limit weighing 17.25 pounds.


The team of Brandon Dollarhyde and Frank Allen won big largemouth of the tournament with 4.65 pounds, sponsored by J & J Tax


The team of Lowell Caudill and Marty Cornett also won big smallmouth of the tournament with 4.15 pounds, sponsored by B.J. Burkhart for Jailer.


The Harlan County Bass Anglers will be raffling off a Glock Model 36 sub compact 45. Raffle tickets are being sold one for $5 or three for $10. You may contact any Harlan County Bass Angler member to buy tickets or send a message on their Facebook page.


The fourth annual Friendly Village fishing tournament will be held May 16 and 17 at Martins Fork Lake.


The tournament on May 16 is a catfish tournament, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. with a guaranteed payout of $200 for the biggest catfish weighed in. Second place will be a $50 pay out.


On May 17, a bass tournament will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a guaranteed $700 payout for first place. Second and third will be paid based on number of entries. There will also be a auction and live entertainment starting at 4 p.m. on May 17.
