CINCINNATI — Bobby Darrell White, a Cumberland native and a 1961 graduate of Cumberland High School, has announced the debut of his book, “Life Through the Eyes of an Elementary School Student.”

The book is a humorous account of White’s elementary school years from 1949 through 1955.

Before the advent of television, which was in its infancy, computers, the Internet and cell phones, information as we now know it had not yet arrived, so White based his understandings of life through comic books, word of mouth and what he learned in elementary school.

He said he thought movies in particular, which he dearly loved, were the portrayals of real life itself. His understandings and misunderstandings of life, gleaned from the media available in the 1940s to the mid-1950s, offers a nostalgic look into the flavor of the times through his hilarious observations on everything from girls, politics, religion and everyday living.

The book is available through Amazon.com in paperback and will be available soon in the Kindle version.
