Tentative agreement reached at HHRC

A tentative agreement has been reached between the United Steel Workers (USW) local 14491-02 and the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center after a meeting on Wednesday where a federal mediator was present.
Roger McGinnis, USW local president, said there were “significant changes” made to the company’s “final, last and best proposal” made on Wednesday.
“The union felt the changes were significant enough to reach a tentative agreement to recommend to the employees at the HHRC,” said McGinnis. “We will present the changes to the members on Friday evening and they will vote on Monday between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.”
McGinnis said the vote will be whether to accept the contract or not on Monday.
“This vote will be to possibly avert a possible strike on Oct. 31,” said McGinnis. “We’re hopeful this contract will be satisfactory to the members and that we can go on serving the residents at the Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center, and the community, for another three-year term.”
