Beginning Wednesday, anyone wishing to run for a county office in the upcoming 2014 election year in Harlan County may file at the Harlan County Clerk’s office through Jan. 28 at 4 p.m., said Harlan County Clerk Donna Hoskins.

Hoskins said county offices on the ballot for the 2014 election year are: constables, magistrates, sheriff, county clerk, district judge, circuit judge, county attorney, county judge-executive, jailer, county surveyor and tax commissioner, which requires a test.

“The two offices not on the 2014 election ballot are circuit court clerk and commonwealth’s attorney,” said Hoskins. “Anyone wishing to change their party to run in the upcoming election will have until Dec. 30 at 4:30 p.m. to do so.”

Encouraging everyone to exercise their right to vote, Hoskins said anyone wishing to register to vote may do so at any time during office hours.

For more information call 573-3636.

The county clerk’s office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
