Getting ready for the holidays with the hopes of helping those less fortunate, the Harlan County Ridge Runners (HCRR) will host their ninth annual Jingle Bell Ride beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the north Evarts RV Park.
“We host this event every year to help offset the cost of toys for the kids in the Clover Fork area,” said HCRR President Bill Troutman. “This is our ninth year of making little ones happy during the Christmas season.”
Troutman said this is the only guided ATV ride for which the ridge runners charge to participate.
“The charge is a donation of either cash or a toy for the children,” said Troutman. “This is just one way you can help in making the holiday season brighter for those less fortunate. With so many coal miners laid-off in the county, it’s especially important to give this year.”
The ATV ride will leave from the north Evarts RV Park Campground at 10 a.m. and “how long it takes will depend on the rider,” Troutman said.
“This will be a good way for some to work off the extra pounds they picked up during the home-cooked meals and leftovers that many will have during the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Troutman. “So, come on out and help get it all done for a good cause. You don’t have to be a club member to go on this ride. Hope to see you there.”
