A Harlan man has been arrested on additional charges while being served an indictment warrant by Harlan City Police.
William Howard, 54, was arrested by Harlan City Police Cpl. Jeff Owens on Sunday.
According to Owens, he and Officer Will Pope were serving an indictment warrant on Howard for charges including trafficking a controlled substance when he noticed Howard reaching into his pocket. Owens told Howard to step up and show what he had in his hand.
The citation states Howard had four white rolled cigarettes believed to contain marijuana.
Howard was charged with possession of marijuana in addition to the indictment warrant charging him with second-degree trafficking a controlled substance, trafficking marijuana and prescription controlled substance not in proper container.
Howard was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $500 full cash bond and a $2,000 bond secured by 10 percent.

* Marcus Young, 38, of Harlan, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Jared Boggs and charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000 and theft by deception including cold checks under $500. Young was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $5,000 full cash bond;
* James Gross, 32, of Gulston, was arrested by KSP Trooper Kenny Abner on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree assault. Gross was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center;
* Fess O. Polly, 35, of Linefork, was arrested by Cumberland Police Officer John Brown on charges of public intoxication by controlled substance (excludes alcohol), possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), first-degree possession of a controlled substance, failure to appear and probation violation. Polly was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on full cash bonds totaling $5,250.
