A Harlan man is facing a charge of sexual abuse after allegedly inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl.
Bobby W. Johnson, 25, was arrested by Harlan Police Officer Derrick Noe on Monday.
According to HPD Cpl. Jeff Owens, a complaint was received from the mother of the juvenile.
“We found out he had grabbed a 15-year-old female juvenile (inappropriately)… and was speaking very vulgarly to her,” said Owens. “Monday, Officer Noe obtained a warrant for first-degree sexual abuse for his arrest.”
Owens said Noe determined Johnson was a registered sex offender, having been put on the sex offender registry for a conviction in Georgia.
Owens said Johnson was arrested outside the Harlan City Police Department building.
“He was outside on a previous incident,” said Owens. “He had called the police department over an incident of his current girlfriend’s car being vandalized, which we had responded to.”
Johnson was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $10,000 full cash bond.
The case is being investigated by Noe.
