Evarts Police Department is looking for the suspect who robbed the Sav-A-Lot grocery store in Evarts on Sunday night.

At 11:10 p.m., an armed robbery was reported to the Evarts Police Department.

“Upon our arrival we initiated an investigation and found that the assistant manager, Rocky Blevins, was exiting the store when he was approached by a male subject outside the store demanding money,” said Sgt. John Teagle. “The male subject threatened to use a gun on Blevins if he didn’t give him the money. So, Mr. Blevins gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money and the suspect then fled the scene on foot.”

Blevins described the suspect as a male between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a camouflaged jacket, a black mask and black jogging pants according to Teagle’s report.

“A canvas search of the area was conducted, however, the suspect was not apprehended,” said Teagle. “We were on the scene for approximately three hours.”

If anyone observes an individual matching this description or has any information in regards to this incident they may call 911, or 606-837-8183 and ask for Teagle. Any information, if so desired, will remain anonymous.

Also assisting in the investigation was the Kentucky State Police, Harlan County Sheriff’s Office and the Harlan City Police Department.
