GRAY — A Knox County woman was arrested on Thursday by troopers from the Kentucky State Police after allegedly shooting her neighbor following a verbal dispute.
Gwendolyn Smith, 43, of Gray, was charged with first-degree assault and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
On Thursday at 8:12 p.m., Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call about a shooting that occurred on Dunham Lane.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Smith had been involved in a verbal dispute with her neighbor. She then pulled out a handgun and shot Jason Marsee, 43, of Gray in the leg.
Marsee was transported from the scene by Knox County EMS to a location to be flown out. He was then flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for his injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
Investigation is continuing by KSP Det. Bryan Johnson. He was assisted at the scene by Troopers Sammy Farris and Wayne Hensley, Sgt. Jason Bunch and Det. Josh Howard.
