Ghosts and zombies and other assorted ghouls assembled the the Village Center Mall’s Boo Bash on Saturday. The event featured a costume contest, here contestants dance while awaiting the judge’s decision on best costume.


Cruella de Vil, also known as Emily Marsee, took second place in her age group for best costume.


Tucker Curtis as Edward Scissorhands won first place in the 3- to 5-year-old division at the Village Mall Boo Bash Costume Contest.


Ethan Caldwell appeared as Freddy Krueger, complete with trademark hat, glove and sweater for the costume contest at the Village Center Mall Boo Bash.


With his “headless mad scientist” costume, Brody Owens took first place overall in the Village Center Mall’s Boo Bash Halloween costume contest.


Harlan County Homemaker Polly McLain, left, of Evarts, dressed as a witch, is pictured treating Coy Burkhart, 5 of Evarts, dressed as a pirate, during the Kids’ Boo Bash held on Tuesday at the Harlan County Extension Depot.


Enjoying trick or treating at the Boo Bash, were Malachi Rodriguez, left, 8, and his brother Jordan, 5, of Harlan, dressed as the Mario Brothers.


Dressed as a skeleton, Travis Burkhart, 6 of Wallins, along with pirate Issac Downs, 8 also of Wallins, are pictured receiving treats from Harlan County Homemaker volunteer Linda Payne, of Evarts, dressed as a witch.
