Local McDonald’s General Manager Dawn Simpson recently presented a donation of $500 to John Carter, principal of James A. Cawood Elementary School.

The donation was the result of a one-night fundraiser from approximately 50 McDonald’s restaurants across the Knoxville area.

Local teachers and parents worked in McDonald’s from 5-8 p.m. on Oct. 22. They greeted customers, served up fries and drinks, and worked to raise money for their local schools.

“We wanted to conduct a one-night fundraiser to support local schools and make it easy as A-B-C,” said Lynn Jimison, a McDonald’s owner/operator in the Harlan area. “We’ve always been committed to education and this is one more way for us to show how much we appreciate teachers and schools for the important work they do with our children.”

McDonald’s restaurants throughout the area have held similar events with local schools over the past three years, and have already donated close to $55,000 to those schools.

Partnering with local schools is one of the many outreach programs that local owner/operators conduct in the community.
