Now reaching national and international levels, the gospel artist “Dean,” which includes Evarts residents Tony Dean and his sons, Tony Jr. and Jimmy, have released a new single and video entitled, “You Can’t Tell Me I’m Dying.”

The single produced by renowned gospel artist Phil Corss, has already created a tremendous buzz on YouTube with over 7,000 views in its first week. The single and video are being promoted and marketed by Cross’s production company, Alan Phillips Agency, which he founded with partner Karen Phillips earlier this year.

“It’s such a tremendous blessing to be working with Dean,” said Cross. “From the moment I first heard them, I knew I wanted to get involved with their musical journey. Then I heard “You Can’t Tell Me I’m Dying,” a powerful new song written by Tony Dean, and I knew this was the song that could really launch this group. Everything has clicked from the recording of the single to the music video. Powered by an amazing song and anointed talent, I expect Dean to make nothing less than a major impact in coming days.”

Tony Dean said the song was “inspired by God and written on a little one-way street in Evarts.”

“This is nothing I’ve done — I credit God for everything,” said Dean. “We know music because this is what my family has always done. I’m a coal miner by trade. I quit a year and a half ago to pursue this and my boys are no longer working in the mines to pursue this career. We’re proud to say we’re from Harlan County.”

Phillips said when she first saw the first cut of the video she was “immediately impressed as well.”

“The song and the vocals were so powerful, I was hooked at my first listen,” said Phillips. “I truly believe this is something special and the online response has only confirmed that belief.”

Tate Music Group Marketing Representative Jo Reese said, “Tony Dean has a very talented family behind him, and the harmonies they create together are very strong and beautiful. Tate Music Group is proud to be working with the Tony Dean Family and look forward to their 2014 release of “Consume Me.”

Dean asks everyone to visit Amazon.com, Rhapsody, iTunes and Spotify if they wish to purchase their new song and visit YouTube to actually watch the video.

“We’ve written about 10 new songs and they’re of the same quality as “You Can’t Tell Me I’m Dying,” said Dean. “Our ‘Consume Me’ project will be released by the first of the year. This is my first project with my sons and Tate Music Group.”

To purchase the song locally you may call Dean at 606-837-8733 or 606-505-5291. You may also email at deantony@yahoo.com. Both debit and credit cards will be accepted.

Performing locally their new song and other material you may see them on Dec. 14 at the Village Center Mall’s “Christmas in the Village” event from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. They will host a CD signing for their new song from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. They will also be performing at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15 at the Harlan Sunshine Church of God, in Harlan, where a live video performance will be conducted by members of the church as Dean performs with them.

On Dec. 21, Dean will also perform at their “Christmas in Evarts” event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot between the Corner Cafe and Clover Fork Clinic. There will be free gifts, hot chocolate, coffee and cookies given away during the event and everyone is invited to attend.
