HARLAN — Mabel Blackburn Thompson, 95, passed away while surrounded by her family on November 18, 2013 in Harlan, KY at the home of her daughter.
Born in Johns Creek, KY on September 22, 1918, Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Vangie Blackburn, husband Nicholas Thompson, brothers Glen and Clell Blackburn, sister Olga, a stillborn son, and sisters-in-law Mary Rawlings and Thelma Blackburn.
She is survived by one son, Bob Thompson of Pikeville, KY, and three daughters, Sue Wilkerson of Frankfort, KY, Doris Hunt (Dale) of Lancaster, KY, and Jenny Roberts of Harlan, KY; grandchildren Tony Thompson, Angela Andrews, Jeff Thompson, Nicholas Wilkerson, Chad Hunt, Amy Hunt Hutchens, and Thomas Roberts; twelve great grandchildren Dustin, Sara, Colby, Carrington, Jacob, Corey, Tyler, Jackson, Jeb, Emma, Jackson D., and Ava Mae; nieces Glendora Helvey, Gail Ward, Sarah Chaffin, nephew John Rawlings; and, devoted friend Angie Smith.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2013, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm at JW Call and Son funeral home chapel. Jim Orrison is the officiating minister.
Burial will follow in the Blackburn – Thompson Cemetery at Lower Johnson Creek.
