Mountain View (9-2) will advance to the conference championship on Saturday at Union College against Evarts, a winner over Stinnett in last night’s semifinals.
Trent Asher scored twice in the first half, a 40-yard run in the first quarter and a 7-yard run in the second quarter to put the Bears ahead 14-0 at the break. Connor Hollin added a two-point conversion after the first touchdown.
Hollin took over defensively on the Dragons’ opening drive of the second half, recording three straight tackles behind the line of scrimmage to put Harlan in a fourth-and-37 situation.
Mountain View went to its keep-away offense at that point, driving 62 yards in 10 plays as Preston Spurlock bulled his way in from the 6 with 1:12 left in the game. Spurlock had four carries in the drive. Asher set up the touchdown with a 27-yard run on third and 14. Hollin was stopped short on the two-point conversion attempt.
Wilson completed a 22-yard pass to John Eldridge and then a 10-yard pass to Harris on fourth down, but it was short of the first down and the Bears took over on downs, taking a knee to end the game.
