The Harlan County Lady Bears feel to 13th Region favorite Whitley County 7-25, 18-25 in volleyball action on Tuesday,


Cellina Hatmaker had a kill and a point to pace Harlan County in the opening set. Whitney Stevens recorded a tip and an ace, while Brittany Clem added a point.


Stevens delivered two kills, a service point and two additional points to power the Lady Bears in a competitive second set. Clem contributed an ace and a save, while Katelyn Reynolds added a tip and a point.


Harlan County swept the visiting Lady Colonels 21-19, 21-17 in the junior varsity contest.


Hatmaker had a tip, one ace and two service points in the opening set. Tarolyn Burkhart delivered an ace, a kill and a service point. Sasha Simpson contributed two tips, an ace and three points. Sabrina Simpson added a service point.


Candice Huff led the Lady Bears with a kill, one ace and two points in the second set. Hatmaker tallied a kill, an ace and a service point. Burkhart and Sasha Simpson each had an ace and a point, while Shelby Cowan added a kill and a point.


Harlan County fell 18-21, 21-10, 19-21 in the freshman match.


Keirstian Hall had two tips, one kill, an ace and four points to lead the Lady Bears in the opening set. Natalie Middleton recorded an ace and a point. Lindsey Hatmaker contributed a kill and a point. Ryan Caldwell added a spike, one kill and a point.


Hall led the way with two tips, three points and another service point in the second game. Middleton tallied a kill, one tip and two points. Lindsey Hatmaker contributed a kill and a service point, while Caldwell added a tip, one ace and two points.


Valerie Day paced the Lady Bears with four aces, one tip and five points in the third and final set. Caldwell recorded a point, while Lindsey Hatmaker had a service point.


Harlan County (15-8) returns to action today at home against Leslie County, while Whitley County (25-7) will travel to Jackson County.
