An offense that has produced at least eight runs in six of nine games thus far was the difference once again Monday as Harlan County collected 13 hits in a 10-6 win over visiting Knox Central.
Senior catcher Bridget Robinson led the Lady Bears with a double, two singles and two RBI. Kaitlyn Stittums, Reagan Nease and Chyanna Harris each contributed two singles. Farren Clark had a double. Savannah Sergent, Tia King and Destinee Jenkins added one single each.
Jenkins earned the win on the mound, striking out eight and walking four in another complete-game effort.
Harlan County wiped out an early 1-0 deficit with two runs in the bottom of the first. Stittums walked and Clark was hit by a pitch to open the inning. Sergent brought in one run with a sacrifice fly and Robinson doubled home another.
Stittums produced a run on her own in the fourth, reaching on a single before stealing second and third and scoring on an error. Sergent was hit by a pitch and scored on Robinson’s single.
Nease, Harris and Stittums had singles in the fifth inning as HCHS loaded the bases. Clark doubled home two and King singled home another.
Nease and King had singles in the sixth inning as Harlan County took control with three runs. Stittums grounded out for one RBI and Sergent singled for two more.
Harlan County (6-3) plays host to Bell County on Tuesday in its district opener.
