With district showdowns set for Monday and Tuesday against Harlan County, the Harlan Green Dragons warmed up Saturday by sweeping a doubleheader from visiting Buckhorn.


Tye Patrick struck out 12 in the opener, working around seven walks, as Harlan won 8-4.


Noah Busroe had a triple and single and Ben Abraham added a double and single to lead the Dragons’ eight-hit attack. Andrew Saylor and Caleb Hogue added doubles. Tye and Corey Burns each had singles.


Harlan held off a comeback bid to win 4-2 in a five-inning game in the nightcap. The Wildcats brought the tying run to the plate in the fifth inning when Hogue came in to record the final two outs for the save.


Jacob Clark earned his fourth win in four decisions as he gave up five hits in 4 1/3 innings.


Hogue, Abraham and Patrick Smallwood each had doubles for the 11-8 Green Dragons. Patrick added a single.


Harlan will play host to Harlan County on Monday and travel to HCHS on Tuesday.
