Harlan County put together one of its most impressive performances of the summer Saturday at Lincoln Memorial University, rallying from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat Cocke County, Tenn., 60-52, the first loss of the summer for Cocke County after 14 wins.
Sophomore guard Treyce Spurlock scored 18 points to lead the Black Bears. Junior forward Cody Brewer and sophomore guard Cameron Carmical added 15 and 13 points, respectively. Senior guards Cody Bumgardner and Trey Sanders contributed nine and five points, respectively. HCHS played without senior forward Tyler Miller, who was taking the ACT test.
Carmical poured in 20 points as Harlan County (13-9) closed the camp with a 64-49 win over Oneida, Tenn. Bumgardner, Sanders and Spurlock added nine points each. Brewer scored eight, followed by David Turner with seven and Kolby Vanover with two.
The Harlan County junior varsity team improved to 10-1 on the summer by downing Cocke County, Tenn., 48-33 and Oneida, Tenn., 46-33.
