Abner Middleton, 68, Verda, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007 at his home. A native of Verda, he had lived here all of his life. He believed in the Church of God faith.

Abner was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha Howard Middleton and John Middleton; a daughter, Ruby Middleton; six sisters, Rhoda Fritts, Belle Payne, Polly Goddard, Phebe Dean, Lillian McMillion and Bobbie Starks; and three brothers, Walter, Jimmy and Henry Middleton.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Middleton, Verda; six children, Ricky Middleton and wife, Gladys; Lisa Middleton; Abner Middleton, Jr. and companion, Loretta; Michael Middleton; Mitchell Middleton and wife, Ruby; all of Verda; Sandy Middleton and companion, Robert Fields, Harlan; a sister, Ellen Risner, Kenvir; and a brother, Johnny Middleton, Verda. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Clyde Payne, Lejunior.

Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. today at the Turner Baptist Church in Verda.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 pm at the Church with the Rev. Jerry Kirby, the Rev. Bruce Bingham and the Rev. Sonny Dean officiating.

Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery at Verda. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
