If your looking for a fun-filled family oriented day, then Evarts is your destination on Aug. 4 at the north Evarts RV Park. The Harlan County Ridge Runners will be hosting the 7th annual Family Fest.
Family Fest is an annual free event where families are invited to come and spend the whole day having a good time. During the event, families can spend the day riding the scenic trails in the area, play music if they like, visit the daring Black Mountain Thunder Zipline, or simply enjoy each others warm camaraderie.
People are encouraged to bring musical instruments, such as guitars or banjos, and pick a few tunes for the crowd. During past Family Fests, the sound of music has made for a joyous atmosphere. Attending the event may lead to hearing delightful music by some of Harlan County’s talented local artists.
During the evening families may gather around a bonfire to share stories. Family Fest is a chance to catch up with friends and relatives. It is also an excellent time to make many new friends as well.
“It’s a time to get together and have fellowship,” said president of the Harlan County Ridge Runners Bill Troutman. “This event is a way Harlan County Ridge Runners can give back to the community.”
At approximately 6 p.m., the Harlan County Ridge Runners will be providing free food for Family Fest attendees. Participants can expect delicious hamburgers and tasty hot dogs along with a variety of beverages.
“Family Fest always seems to be one Harlan County Ridge Runner’s favorite events,” said Evarts Mayor Eddie Manning. “This is a chance for people with the same passion for the outdoors to get together in a family atmosphere. It also gives the city of Evarts a chance to showcase its beauty.”
