After numerous delays due to the weather, the county seventh- and eighth-grade tournament finally resumed Tuesday at Cawood High School.
The top-seeded Wallins Purple Devils rolled to a 54-22 victory over Black Mountain in Tuesday's opener.
Chase Niday led Wallins (18-1) with 18 points. Brian Owens and Brandon McCoun each added 10.
Cody McCreary paced Black Mountain with eight points.
Eric Miller scored 12 points as No. 4 Cumberland claimed a 42-25 victory over No. 5 Rosspoint in the nightcap.
Kent Langham added 11 for Cumberland (15-6).
Rosspoint (9-8) was led by Michael Sizemore and James Ball with six points apiece.
First-round play continues tonight, with No. 2 Cawood taking on No. 7 Harlan at 7 p.m., followed by No. 3 Evarts and No. 6 Green Hills at 8:30.
The tournament has been pushed back three times because of inclement weather.
