Dragons split tennis match with Letcher

The Harlan Green Dragons split a boys and girls doubleheader against visiting Letcher Central in tennis action on Tuesday.

The Harlan boys squad edged Letcher Central 5-4 overall.

The Dragons split six singles contests against the Cougars.

Top seed Evan Howard downed Letcher’s Chase Lewis 8-2. Ryland Atkins fell 7-9 to Dakota Hall. Wes Farley knocked off Ethan Raleigh 8-1. Boone Allison dropped a 3-8 contest against Antonio Acevedo. Kilian Ledford fell 5-8 to Cameron Bunty, and Tyler Sturdivant defeated Cody Cates 8-0.

Harlan clinched the win by defeating the Cougars in two of three doubles matches.

The team of Howard and Atkins downed Letcher’s Raleigh and Acevedo 8-2. Farley and Allison knocked off Lewis and Hall 8-6. Cody Shoope and Trevor Pryor fell to Bunty and Grover Isaac in the final doubles match.

Letcher Central defeated the Lady Dragons 8-1 overall in the girls match.

Top seed Camille rowning fell 0-8 to Letcher’s Kristie Blair. Jessica Phan dropped a 3-8 match against Brittany Wright. Yen Chan was defeated 0-8 by Erica Meade. Kaitlyn Bledsoe fell 2-8 to Sydney Back. Lala Zheng dropped a 2-8 contest against Ashley Collins. Katie Hornsby lost 2-8 to Auberney Campbell.

Harlan dropped two of the three doubles matches.

The team of Browning and Phan fell 2-8 to Letcher’s Meade and Back. Chan and Bledsoe were defeated 0-8 by Blaie and Wright. Zheng and Shianne Burgan picked up the only win for the Lady Dragons with an 8-1 victory over Tailer Adams and Tailer Fleming.
