Ed was born August 10, 1925 in Stanfill, KY to the late Andrew and Josie Campbell Hatfield. He was a United States Navel Veteran and served during WW II. He was employed by Doss Fuelco for 33 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and member of the Southern Baptist Association. Of all of his accomplishments he was most proud of his lifelong devotion and service to the Lord. He was an Ordained Deacon since 1976 and a faithful member of Kelly Street Baptist Church for over 30 years. He continued to share the gospel during his illness.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his cherish wife of 62 years, Wanda Hatfield; siblings, Earl, Howard, and Kenneth Hatfield, and Cleta Balltrip; a special nephew, K.J. Hatfield.
He leaves to cherish his memory, 2 sons, Mike (Theresa) Hatfield and Andy (Linda) Hatfield all of Harlan; 3 grandchildren, Dee Hatfield (Vince) Pack of Corbin, Todd (Audra) Hatfield of New Orleans, LA and Krissy Hatfield (Terry) Delaney of Harlan; 7 great grandchildren, Easton Pack, Merrah Dee Pack, Gavin Hatfield, Terry Michael Delaney, Alyssa Hatfield, Landon Hatfield, and Colton Delaney; 2 brothers, Charles (Carolyn) Hatfield and Claude (Charlene) Hatfield all of Harlan; a very special nephew Wayne (Von) Phillips of Harlan; he also leaves other special family members and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Wednesday Aug. 29, 2012 in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Parker and Rev. Robert Zavattira officiating.
Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Wednesday Aug. 29, 2012 until the funeral hour at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Thursday Aug. 30, 2012 at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel. Military Rites will be observed by the Harlan Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Vince Pack, Terry Delaney, Todd Hatfield, Jerry Brock, Tim Johnson and other friends and family.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Harlan Honor Guard, PO Box 704 Baxter, KY 40806 in memory of Edward Hatfield.
The family wishes to express a sincere appreciation to the staff of the Harlan ARH, Dr. Dahhan, and the staff of the Harlan Health & Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional care.
