The Wallins Lady Devils and the Evarts Lady Cats advanced to the seventh- and eighth-grade championship game of the Trojanette Invitational by claiming semifinal wins Friday.

Lauren Lee poured in 16 points as the Lady Devils edged Cawood 29-26 in the final game of the evening.

Chelsea Niday added five points for Wallins (2-0).

Cawood (1-1) was led by Melissa Stewart and Ashley Stewart with nine points. Ashley Stewart and Bella Noe added eight apiece.

Evarts advanced with a 25-19 victory over Rosspoint.

Shannon Shackleford and Catherine Jones led Evarts (2-0) with 10 and eight points, respectively.

Madison Hendrix scored 13 to lead Rosspoint.

Cumberland opened the evening with a 21-20 victory over James A. Cawood in a losers bracket contest.

The Lady Comets rallied from a five-point deficit late but came up short on their final shot.

Bridgett Robinson led Cumberland (1-1) with eight points, and Hannah Huff added seven.

Sara Farmer paced James A. Cawood (0-2) with eight.

Nine players scored for Black Mountain as the Tigerettes defeated Rosspoint 39-12 in the other losers bracket contest. Rosspoint filled in for Green Hills, which dropped out of the tournament.

Paige Turner paced Black Mountain (1-1) with 12 points, and Ashley White added seven.

Megan Tolliver scored five to lead Rosspoint (1-2).

The schedule for Saturday is now set. The morning session will begin with two fifth- and sixth-grade games as Cumberland faces James A. Cawood at 9 a.m. and Black Mountain takes on Evarts at 10. James A. Cawood will play Black Mountain in a seventh- and eighth-grade game at 11, followed by Black Mountain and Cumberland in a seventh- and eighth-grade game at noon.

Wallins and Rosspoint will face off in the fifth- and sixth-grade consolation game at 5 p.m., followed by Cawood and Rosspoint in the seventh- and eighth-grade consolation game at 6. The fifth- and sixth-grade championship game, pitting James A. Cawood against Cawood, will start at 7, followed by the seventh- and eighth-grade championship game between Wallins and Evarts at 8.
