The Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center held the annual Christmas Open House on Thursday. Terry Forcht, chairman of the Forcht Group of Kentucky and owner of the nursing facility, was on hand for the festivities, along with several other local and state dignitaries.
With a crowd of more than 200 attending, Forcht said he was “extremely proud” of the Harlan facility.
“We have operated this facility for the past 33 years and it’s a first class facility,” said Forcht. “It’s beautifully decorated for Christmas and I’ve ventured up here in Wildcat country. Gail (Pace) has been with us since 2005 and has done a tremendous job. She has to be available 24/7.”
“Nursing homes are in 120 counties in Kentucky and are one of the big industries for Kentucky, employing some 25,000 people,” he said. “That’s just the tip of the iceberg because you have suppliers and other professionals who are also working in this industry. It’s a great impact to have a nursing facility in your community because they do provide a lot of services. We appreciate everyone’s support and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.”
Pace said Harlan Health and Rehabilitation Center is a 143-bed skilled nursing facility, providing both long-term and short-term care for their patients. She said they have “an outstanding” therapy program with staff “dedicated in helping residents reach their highest potential.”
The center has been providing care to Harlan and the surrounding areas since 1979. The facility is conveniently located beside the Harlan ARH Hospital.
“Our dedicated and professional staff works hard to provide our residents with high-quality care in a homelike environment,” said Pace.
Medical Director and Physician Dr. Abdulkader Dahhan, Harlan County Judge-Executive Joe Grieshop, Director of Operations for Healthcare Therapy Services Kerry Wright, state Rep. Rick Nelson and the Rev. Joe Howard also participated in the event.
A reception and tours followed the program.
