A native of Bell County, McCurry had lived here most of his life.
He was a member of the Pansy Baptist Church and a retired electronics technician for McCombs Supply.
He was a former volunteer baseball coach at Harlan, Evarts and Cumberland; a former coach for Evarts Little league and Senior League; umpired softball and high school baseball; and coached the former Evarts Baptist Church softball team.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nola Marcum McCurry and Hubert McCurry; two sisters: Bernice Fee and Mildred Thompson; three brothers: Kenneth McCurry, Roy McCurry and Estil McCurry; and a granddaughter, Leah Walls.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Risner McCurry, Evarts; four children: Donald McCurry and wife, Tina, Ocala, Fla.; Brenda Miller and husband, Barkley, Enterprise, Ala.; Stephen Lester and wife, Jenny, Denver, Ind.; and Vicky Hopkins and husband, Brian, Lexington; a sister, Ethel Willen and husband, Donald; a brother, Eugene McCurry, all of Louisville; seven grandchildren: Jeffery McCurry, Michael McCurry, Jason McCurry, Michael Lester, Joshua Lester, Ashley Lester and Jennifer Miller Niel; several great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Brenda Kelly, Closplint; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Donald and Linda Parsons and their family; and William and Penny Taylor and their family.
Visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Evarts Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. John Luttrell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Harlan Little league or the Harlan County Humane Society.
