The new Harlan ARH Hospital Wound Care Center recently hosted an open house to allow everyone the chance to meet the staff and see the hyperbaric chambers now available in the treatment for chronic wounds. Program Director Kim Long said the Wound Care Center applies proven wound care practices and advanced clinical approaches, including wound care products, dressings, antibiotics and hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help heal patients who suffer from chronic wounds.

“Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a medical treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing and strengthens the immune system,” said Long. “Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is an effective treatment option for most chronic wounds.”

Long said the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy reduces healing time and produces a high healing rate. She said by achieving some of the best healing rates and fastest healing times means “you can get back to living your life the way you want in the shortest time possible.”

“Our center offers the latest in advanced dressings and therapies provided by our multi-disciplinary specialists,” said Long. “Our courteous staff will contact your doctor or insurance company and take care of all necessary arrangements.”

Long said if you suffer with diabetic wounds that are slow-to-heal or not healing, any foot or leg ulcers or sores, surgical wounds that had opened, skin grafts or surgical flaps that are not healing post-surgery, skin tears or open sores caused by radiation treatment or bone infection they can help you at the Wound Care Center.

“Even internal injury where no open wound exists such as crush injuries from an accident, radiation cystitis or proctitis or reconstruction of jaw or bone we can help you at the Wound Care Center,” said Long. “Our state-of-the-art hyperbaric chambers are built with your comfort in mind. We’ll help you get your life back.”
